Product #2 - Silver Bracelet, by Ibu Sudani

Ibu Sudani is a young Balinese mum. Sudani is determined to provide a good life and education for her husband and children. Sudani used her loan to buy material for her jewelry making business. The two pictured crystal and pearl bracelets were created especially for M8kadifranz. Hardworking, entrepreneurial women like Sudani make a difference to the qualities of life of their families and often go on to be community leaders and improve life and living conditions for their entire community.

Silver jewelry craftswoman, Ibu Sudani lives in the back streets of Singapadu in the Gianyar Regency of Bali with her husband, a silversmith by trade, and their baby daughter. Due to fierce competition from commercial jewelry manufacturers, many rural home-based operations like this struggle to remain in business. During times when there are no orders from buyers, Made and her husband must do contract work for larger jewelry producers to put bread on the table. Made’s dream is to expand her jewelry business and remain working from home so that she can spend more time with her children. The jewelry is handcrafted and designed based on Made’s creativity and her husband’s technical skills. Bali Artisans provides them with trend reports, product pricing information, management training, as well as assistance in accessing new markets.

As a client of WKP's micro finance program, Sudani would like to expand her business to reach wider market areas. That encouraged her to join as a member of Bali Artisans.
